EDTI on the International Stage – Sharing Good Practices in Germany

At the end of May, we had the opportunity to participate in a three-day professional mobility programme in Germany, supported by the Pannonia Scholarship Programme. The days we spent at Ruhr-Universität Bochum and Hochschule Niederrhein were not only rich in professional insights but also offered valuable opportunities for networking and collaborative reflection. It was truly inspiring to meet colleagues working on similar challenges and eager to share their experiences.

Moodle Symposium – Presenter Participation

One of the highlights of the programme was our participation in the Regional Moodle Symposium, where we had the honor of representing our office and Obuda University as presenters. In our talk, From Content to Experience – Supporting Engaging Moodle Course Design, we showcased the methodological support model we use at EDTI, and how we assist educators in creating user-friendly and cohesive Moodle courses.

It was a great privilege to be among the first international presenters invited to this North Rhine-Westphalia regional conference – and to represent Hungary on this important professional platform.

Connections and Joint Plans

On the Mönchengladbach campus, we had the chance to meet in person with the digital education team of Hochschule Niederrhein, and in Krefeld, we had a productive discussion with Prof. Dr. Gudrun Stockmanns, Vice-Rector for Teaching. We presented the K-MOOC platform, which connects numerous partner institutions, and were pleased to see the strong interest in our unified visual and pedagogical approach.

Several avenues for future collaboration were discussed, such as co-developing English-language courses and integrating AR/VR technologies.

Inspiration and Takeaways

During our visit, we also gained insight into data protection practices related to the operation of e-learning systems. We found it especially valuable to observe the deliberate and well-structured approach taken by Hochschule Niederrhein in this area. Their practices offer us a clear direction for improving our own processes.

The idea also emerged that forming a supportive, active domestic Moodle community could facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration among higher education institutions using LMS platforms.

We experienced this professional journey as an intensive opportunity for learning and building connections – complemented by a bit of cultural and culinary exploration across the Ruhr region. During our travels, we also had the chance to visit Aachen, Cologne, Essen, and Düsseldorf, as well as Venlo and Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
